  • "Also (forbidden are) women already married, except those (captives and slaves) whom your right hands possess, Thus has Allaah ordained for you, All others are lawful, provided you seek (them in marriage) with Mahr (bridal money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) from your property, desiring chastity, not committing illegal sexual intercourse, so with those of whom you have enjoyed sexual relations, give them their Mahr as prescribed; but if after a Mahr is prescribed, you agree mutually (to give more), there is no sin on you, Surely, Allaah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise." [An-Nisaa' (4):24]

  • Narrated Abu Burda's father:

    Allah's Apostle said "Three persons will have a double reward:
    1. A Person from the people of the scriptures who believed in his prophet (Jesus or Moses) and then believed in the Prophet Muhammad (i .e. has embraced Islam).
    2. A slave who discharges his duties to Allah and his master.
    3. A master of a woman-slave who teaches her good manners and educates her in the best possible way (the religion) and manumits her and then marries her."
