[1] (112):1 See Tawheed in the Glossary (Appendix).

[2] (112):3 Narrated Mu'aadh bin Jabal (radi-Allaahu 'anhu):
The Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) said, "O Mu'aadh! Do you know what Allaah's Right upon His slaves is?" I said, "Allaah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) said, "To worship Him (Allaah) Alone and to join none in worship with Him (Allaah). Do you know what their right upon Him is?" I replied, "Allaah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) said, "Not to punish them (if they do so)." [Saheeh Al-Bukharee, Vol. 9, Hadeeth No. 470]
Narrated Aboo Sa'id Al-Khudree (radi-Allaahu 'anhu):
A man heard another man reciting: 'Say (O Muhammad sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam): "He is Allaah, (the) One."' (112:1) And he recited it repeatedly. When it was morning, he went to the Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) and informed him about that as if he considered that the recitation of that Soorah by itself was not enough. Allaah's Messenger (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life is, it is equal to one-third of the Qur'aan." [Saheeh Al-Bukharee, Vol. 9, Hadeeth No. 471]
Narrated 'Aa'ishah (radi-Allaahu 'anhaa):
The Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) sent (an army unit) under the command of a man who used to lead his companions in the prayers and would finish his recitation with (the Soorah 112): 'Say (O Muhammad): "He is Allaah, (the) One."' (112:1). When they returned (from the battle), they mentioned that to the Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam). He said (to them), "Ask him why he does so." They asked him and he said, "I do so because it mentions the qualities of the Most Beneficent and I love to recite it (in my prayer)." The Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) said (to them), "Tell him that Allaah loves him." [Saheeh Al-Bukharee, Vol. 9, Hadeeth No. 472]
